Hi Chris, I have started slow running recently too but have been doing only nasal breathing during all my runs for a while. It takes a bit of practice (not more than 3 runs) but after that, it becomes natural with nasal breathing. The good thing is it is hard to overstride when you are breathing in/out through the nose which is good since it avoids a lot of injuries too. Good luck.

Hi Rajesh - I tend to do nasal breathing only off and on, I'm not consistent with it. Usually I like to start runs out with nasal only, and maybe go halfway (on a 10k) before switching to mouth. I didn't realize that it is harder to over stride, but I guess it makes sense, given that over striding takes more energy and so will cause your breathing to increase. Good luck to you as well, and thanks for reading!

Yes thats right, with nasal breathing alone, its harder to go too fast.
